RESENHA DE LIVRO - A METRÓPOLE IMAGINÁRIA

Abstract

The book "The Imaginary Metropolis" portrays the complex history of the elites of Uberaba (MG) in the 1940s, in strong contrast to the reality experienced by the other social classes that comprised society during that period. These members of the said elite ignored the semi-rural environment and poverty surrounding them while enacting a refined and disconnected life from the regional reality. Being a regional snapshot, but applicable and noticeable in any Brazilian city of the time.
