Abstract

This article addresses the topic of continuing teacher education for literacy in its interface with the
Tempo de Aprendizagem Program established by Ordinance No. 280, of February 19, 2020. Coordinated by the
Ministry of Education, the aforementioned Program is one of the strategies implemented within the scope of the
National Literacy Policy established by Decree No. 9,765, of April 11, 2019.
In this sense, the objective of this article is to analyze the Tempo de Aprendizagem Program and its
contributions to the continuing education of teachers for literacy in the Brazilian scenario that began to be
designed in 2019. To achieve this objective, it starts with a research with an essentially qualitative approach
and an exploratory, bibliographical and documental nature. Data collection took place between October and
December 2022 and made use of consultations on the Portal de Periódicos of the Coordination for the Improvement
of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), on the Portal of the Ministry of Education (MEC) and on the Virtual
Environment Ministry of Education (AVAMEC). The results indicate that the Tempo de Aprendizagem Program and the
actions implemented by it are a setback for literacy in Brazil and contribute little to the continuing education
of literacy teachers within a critical, creative and socio-historical perspective.
